Through the month of September, we are going to focus on the organization “Our Conference, Our Kids” which was created by our very own Bishop Frank Beard. In honor of Bishop Frank Beard, who is undergoing eye surgery in both eyes and is on Sabbatical until January of 2022, all churches in the Illinois Great Rivers Conference are asked to take up a collection to give to this organization. During our Kid’s Message, the kids travel through the sanctuary collecting a “noisy offering” which will be sent to Our Conference, Our Kids......

A rejoicing message for the kids Psalm 118:24 – Today is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it. Today is Sunday. Today I am going to church. Today I am glad!!!! I’m glad because I will get to praise God in my church building…something I haven’t been able to do in a long time…10 weeks!! Now, I will admit…I have not really hated being able to sleep in on some of those Sundays that I couldn’t go to church. And watching sermons where I could pause the video......

A Memorial Day message for the kids. Tomorrow is Memorial Day. It is often considered the “unofficial start to summer.” Typically, people celebrate with cookouts and other types of festivities, and children are excited about school being out and summer vacation finally here. Lots of city pools, typically, open on Memorial Day weekend too. But this Memorial Day is anything but typical! The pandemic has altered this holiday and the way many Americans will celebrate. I mean, kids are barely excited that school’s out because they haven’t even been in school since March. And who knows about city pools and when they can open?? Perhaps this year, we can become more focused to remember what Memorial Day is really about. ......

A Hero message for the kids You’ve probably heard a lot about “heroes” during this Corona Virus pandemic. Back in my day (here I go again showing my age), heroes were Superman, The Lone Ranger, Batman (I loved Batman), Mighty Mouse, even Underdog. This pandemic has certainly improved our perspective on who the real heroes are. So many REAL people have proven their bravery and honor in fighting and dealing with this pandemic! I’ll bet you can think of many heroes right here in our own community. So…. speaking of heroes… May......

A Mother’s Day Message for the kids. Today is Mother’s Day, and I am sure your mother would love a day to be pampered and treasured. But you do that every day for your moms, right??? In the Bible there is a commandment to honor your mother (and father). Honoring means to give them respect. I expect we all have fallen short on this at times, but honor/respect is what God commands. During this Covid-19 Pandemic when moms are stepping up and going above and beyond to keep their families safe, healthy,......

A May Day message for the kids I know today isn’t May Day since May Day is on May 1st. But it is the first Sunday in May, so let’s talk about May Day. It’s a spring holiday with celebrations around the May Pole or the giving of gift baskets to neighbors. The children put goodie baskets on their neighbors’ doorsteps and ring the doorbell and then run. A sweet surprise awaits when the neighbors open their doors. Sounds like a perfect thing to do in these days of Covid 19. Maybe you can think of a......

A “happy birthday to me!” message for the kids. Today, April 26th, is MY birthday! And it is a very monumental day. Did you know, I have NEVER been this old before??!! That makes today a pretty special day, at least for me. But because I’m getting older, I might have to start thinking about some things…like…wrinkles, gray hair, creaky bones, achy joints…you know, old people stuff. To tell you the truth, I’ve already been thinking about that! I use anti-aging lotion on my face morning and night. I will color my......
