Hello Friends, It’s official! We have entered into the Christmas countdown period. Every day now we will see it in the newspapers and hear it on the radio and television, “24 shopping days until Christmas,” “23 shopping days until Christmas,” “22 shopping days until Christmas.” All around us there are signs that Christmas is coming. What are some of those signs? There are plenty of signs that Christmas is coming. This time of year just looks different. Lights up on the rooftop, window displays fill store windows, trees in living rooms, and......

Hello Friends, Happy Thanksgiving! Were you able to have an enjoyable and memorable Thanksgiving with family, loved, and friends last week? Are you one those persons that enjoys eating leftover turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, macaroni-n-cheese, and yummy desserts for days after Thanksgiving? I know I am; and I am still eating and munching on leftovers…turkey sandwiches, ham sandwiches, warmed up macaroni-n-cheese with a side of mashed potatoes topped with gravy, and few slices of pumpkin pie for dessert. Aside from the the gatherings and food, what did you give God thanks for......

Hello Friends, Well….Halloween is over. There is a chilliness in the air. The sun has decided to hide behind the clouds earlier in the day and wake up later in the morning. “The chance of snow flurries” seems to be the favorite phrase on every weather station imaginable in the area. All the plants have been trimmed down and the leaves have been raked and the mower has been cleaned and put in storage. And I have now plugged in and turned on a space heater in my office. I think winter......

Hello Friends! Just a couple of days ago, we celebrated a specific holiday that honors all those who have served our country. They either served in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, or Space Force. For some of us, we get the day off of school to celebrate this holiday and our parents get the day off as well. Do you know the name of the holiday we just celebrated? That’s right! Veterans Day! I was doing some research on Veterans Day and this is what I found out:......

Hello Friends, I hope you are doing well! Did any of you experience a sugar comma after going trick-or-treating last week? I didn’t experience a sugar comma, but I can certainly tell you that I did eat a lot of candy…and I didn’t even go trick-or-treating. What kind of candy did you receive the most of? Did you get your favorite candy? I guess now, it’s time to start planning for next year! Today, I want to talk to you about “family.” Did you know you have a family? Do you know......

Hello Friends, Happy Halloween! What monster plays tricks on Halloween?–Prank-enstein! What kind of music do mummies love?–Wrap music. What is a monster’s favorite dessert?–I scream! Today, we are going to talk about something that might cause our light to go out. You might be thinking Satan. But there is something else that can put our light out. Do you know what it is? It’s FEAR. And since it is Halloween, I thought we could talk about fear. To have fear means to be scared of something. Are you scared of creepy, hairy,......

Hello Friends, How are you doing today? Are you getting ready to go trick-or-treating?! Do you have your costume picked out? Do you have your candy collection device ready to go? Do you know where you are going to go to receive piles and piles of your favorite candy and sweet treats? When I was your age, my dad took me trick-or-treating to a neighborhood near my house, and I remember that there were two houses in particular that every kid needed to go to: one house handed out full-size candy bars......

Hello Friends, How are you doing on this chilly day in Fall? I don’t know about you, but I was very excited this past week when the temperatures got above 70 degrees! I spent the whole day on Friday outside helping a dear friend with a building project–before it rained. However, it was great day to be outside! I have noticed in “these here parts” that even when it is below 60 degrees, people are still running around outside in shorts and t-shirts….that’s crazy! I have been wearing jeans and flannels ever......

Hello Friends, For this week’s lesson, I encourage you to read the following words adapted from Paul Harvey’s poem, “God Made Farmers.” And on the 8th day, God looked down on his creation and said, “I need a caretaker” — so………. God made Farmers. God said, “I need somebody willing to get up before dawn, tend to the animals, work all day in the fields, tend to the animals again, eat supper, then go to town to attend their child’s school function or stay past midnight at a meeting of the school board”......
