This Little Light of Mine

Hello Friends,

How are you doing today? Did you notice this past week that God was sending warmth down upon us even though it was cold and windy? Although it was cold and windy, God allowed the sunshine to shine bright over us to remind us that He is always watching over us and protecting us. The sun, like God’s love and protection, is always shining even when we can’t see it. And like the sun, we can feel God’s warmth in our hearts and in our minds and in our spirits. Isn’t that really cool?! Just because we can’t see something, that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t exist!

So thinking about the sun and its bright rays of light, the song This Little Light of Mine filled my heart. Do you know this song? I remember learning it Sunday School when I was about your age; and guess what, even after all these years, I still remember it and sing it every time I hear it. Would you like to sing it with me? Okay! Let’s give it a try…

This little light of mine, I’m gonna to let it shine; Oh, this little light of mine, I’m gonna to let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.

Let it shine till Jesus comes, I’m gonna let it shine; Let it shine till Jesus comes, I’m gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.

Hide it under a bushel? No! I’m going to let it shine. Hide it under a bushel? No! I’m going to let it shine. Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.

Don’t let Satan [blow] it out! I’m going to let it shine. Don’t let Satan [blow] it out! I’m going to let it shine. I’m going to let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.

That was very good! You all must know that song! You must have some wonderful singers in your life! Do you know why I like this song? I like this song because it reminds me of how powerful and bright God’s light is and how He needs us to keep it shining wherever we go. We can’t hide God’s light under a bushel or under our beds or in our closets because God’s light cannot be hidden. We can’t let Satan blow it out because then God would not be happy with us: God’s light is more powerful than Satan or the bad things in our life. And finally, this song reminds me that I must always keep God’s light shining until Jesus comes to save me and to save you. The light of Christ lives inside of you and it is your job to keep it shining brightly. Can you do that? Can you keep the Light of Christ shinning in your life? I hope so!

Your Friend, Holy Spirit!
