Back To School Prayer
Dear Gracious God, we pray that you bless the students: that you grant them wisdom to learn, motivation to grow their curiosity, and compassion to do unto others as they would have done to themselves. May their pencils bring success and right answers, may their colored pencils, crayons, and markers bring color to their imagination, and my their notebooks be filled with stories of hope and achievements. May their folders contain the excitement of new beginnings, may their glue sticks remind them that your love, O Lord, is stuck with them, and may their rulers bring them comfort as they realize you are never to far away. Bless the backpacks, O Lord, that travel with them: may they be something that brings them protection and safety as they use them to bring home their masterpieces and dreams. O Lord, bless the students; and allow their hearts to be open, their minds receptive to the lessons, their bodies engaged in learning, and their spirits filled with adventure, wisdom, and hope.
O Lord, bless the teachers as they prepare and plan lessons, fill each student with wisdom, protect and nurture each child that walks through their doors, and may they be given moments of peace and rest.
O Lord, bless all school bus drivers as they transport and keep each and every child safe; bless all cafeteria workers who make sure each child is fed with brain food; and bless all janitors and maintenance workers as they strive to offer a clean and safe environment.
O Lord, bless all librarians as they introduce the students to books that will change and bring their imagination to life, and bless all art and music teachers as they inspire each student to be creative and adventurous.
O Lord, bless all those involved in the school system as they create a school year filled with achievements, smiles, laughter, and unforgettable memories. And Lord, bless this academic school year. Amen.
