Mother’s Day

A Mother’s Day Message for the kids.
Today is Mother’s Day, and I am sure your mother would love a day to be pampered and treasured. But you do that every day for your moms, right??? In the Bible there is a commandment to honor your mother (and father). Honoring means to give them respect. I expect we all have fallen short on this at times, but honor/respect is what God commands. During this Covid-19 Pandemic when moms are stepping up and going above and beyond to keep their families safe, healthy, fed, entertained, and educated; moms should be honored in the greatest way! Hmmm, so what to do? Gifts are always nice–jewelry, perfume, flowers, cards…I’m sure there is curbside pick-up or home delivery for just about anything you could think of. But if we are talking GREAT, then let’s talk about what the Bible tells us is the greatest. In 1st Corinthians, there is an entire chapter about it. LOVE! That is the greatest. The greatest gift to give your mother is your love. Love is patient and kind. It protects and always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres. Persevere means to stick with it no matter how hard it is. If a mother has her child’s love, she indeed has a treasure. Oh sure, a diamond necklace would be nice, but the Bible tells us LOVE NEVER FAILS. So, give the greatest gift, the gift of love, to your mother every day not just on Mother’s Day! Oh, and since it is Mother’s Day, you can still give her a “nice” gift too!
Mothers…Thank you, God!
