May Day

A May Day message for the kids
I know today isn’t May Day since May Day is on May 1st. But it is the first Sunday in May, so let’s talk about May Day. It’s a spring holiday with celebrations around the May Pole or the giving of gift baskets to neighbors. The children put goodie baskets on their neighbors’ doorsteps and ring the doorbell and then run. A sweet surprise awaits when the neighbors open their doors. Sounds like a perfect thing to do in these days of Covid 19. Maybe you can think of a neighbor you could surprise.
And since the corona virus is invading our days of May, it might be even more appropriate to talk about another Mayday. It’s a distress signal used around the world, and corona virus has distressed the whole world. So… “MAYDAY, MAYDAY, MAYDAY!!!” Dear Lord, our world is in distress, and we need immediate help and guidance and grace. We know you are in charge and your will is not to harm us, but to give us hope and a future. Help us to look to you in our distress.
Thank you, God!
