23rd Annual Veteran's Day Observance When: Thursday, November 11, 2021 @11:00AM Where: Outside of Pulliam Funeral Home in Oblong, IL Why: To honor our local Veteran's   Pulliam Funeral Home 23rd Annual Veteran's Day observance will take place on Thursday, November 11 beginning at 11am outside Pulliam Funeral Home in Oblong. Oblong American Legion Post #219 will be posting colors and there will be a short service and reading of the veterans names. Each year the funeral home and the American Legion Post #219 honor those local Veterans who have died during the past year. This year over 375 veterans will be honored. These veterans either had their funeral service with the funeral home along with the American Legion Post or families of the deceased Veteran purchased a cross to honor their deceased veteran. During the service, the Veterans names are read in honor of each Veteran. The crosses will be erected on Tuesday, November 9th and will be illuminated at night. The public is invited to stop and look at the crosses and attend the service. Chairs will not be provided or available during the service, so please plan to bring your own if you are not able to stand for a long time.

Oblong Food Pantry will have food boxes available on Monday, November 15 from 8:30am-10am at the Central United Methodist Church at 112 N. Range in Oblong. If at any time you or someone you know is in need of food, please call Nancy Ping at 618-592-4895. You will be able to have an emergency box made to hold you over until the monthly food distribution.
