Loving Everyone

Hello Friends,

Summer is winding down….Are you getting ready for school to start again? I was trying to remember my very first day of school, and let me tell you its tough trying to remember all those years ago! I remember getting a new backpack, going school supply shopping, watching my mom write my name on every single crayon and marker, and making sure I new my address and telephone number. There was a lot going on for my 6 year old self back in 2001. Trying to remember that day, got me thinking about what my mom and dad said to me before I walked to my aunt and uncle’s to get on the bus. They said, “Daniel, we love you!”

Do you remember the first time you said “I love you” to your mom, your dad, your brother(s), or to your sister(s)? I can’t remember the first time, but I can tell you the last time I told them that I love them. Did you know that Jesus never stops loving you? When we do something good, Jesus loves us. When we help someone, Jesus loves us. When we laugh and smile and play outside, Jesus loves us. And guess what, Jesus even loves us when we don’t behave, when we get in trouble, when we do or say the wrong thing, and even when we get hurt. Jesus never stops loving us!

Do you love your mom and dad all the time? Do you love your siblings all the time? Do you love your friends all the time? There are times when it is tough to love someone all the time. They may hurt you, get you in trouble, or even not talk to you. It’s tough to love someone when they aren’t nice to you. But Jesus needs us to love everyone all the time. Jesus tells us to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. Loving someone isn’t always easy: it takes courage, hard work, and lots and lots of grace and forgiveness. But if we want to be like Jesus, then we must keep trying to love everyone. The more people we love, the happier this world will be. Can you promise me that you will do your best to love like Jesus loves you?

With school coming up, some of your classmates might just need some extra love to get them through the day!

Your Friend, Holy Spirit
