God Knows Your Name

Hello Friends,

How are you doing today? As I write this message to you, I am sitting in a comfy desk chair, staring at my computer, and listening to people talk about the future of the Church. These people are talking about finances, voting practices, other churches, and some other business things. It is not the most exciting thing to hear about–like hearing about the Cardinals beating the Cubs or hearing about how people are being invited over to go swimming–but these are things that need to be discussed so that you will always have a church to go to.

As I continue to reflect upon this meeting, someone said the following words before we were dismissed for lunch–I am getting pretty hungry! They said, “God Knows Your Name.” Let me tell you something: God knows your name. He knows how many hairs there are on your head. He knows when you are sad and happy. He knows when you pick on your brother or sister; and He knows when you are nice to them. He knows when you listen to your parents and when you don’t. God knows your name. It doesn’t matter what others call you because God knows you for who He created you to be. God knows your name because He loves you.

When the Lord was speaking to Moses, as is recorded in Isaiah 49, the Lord said, “This very thing that you have spoken I will do, for you have found favor in my sight, and I know you by name.” The Lord knows everyone’s name, and He has called all of us, even you, to do great things–to know the names of others. So this week, remember that God knows your name. And He knows your name because you loves so much. God has great plans for you.

Here are the words to a song that I have grown up listening to. The song is titled He Knows My Name: “I have a Maker, He formed my heart Before even time began. My life was in his hands, He knows my name. He knows my every thought, He sees each tear that falls and He hears me when I call. I have a Father He calls me His own. He’ll never leave me, no matter where I go, He knows my name, He knows my every thought. He sees each tear that falls and He hears me when I call.”

God knows your name because He created you and loves you! Time to get back to my meeting…

Your Friend, Holy Spirit!
